Advanced Solar Electric Training - Marc Johnson One Day Session - Houston, TX - June 9, 2010
$225.00

Houston, TX. ONTILITY, will offer Advanced Solar Design and Installation on June 7 –11, at its newly completed training facility in Houston, Texas. The course is designed to meet the needs of experienced solar installers, electricians or other solar energy professionals who have a solid understanding of solar fundamentals. Its objective is to significantly advance the knowledge and careers for those already involved in solar electric system installation.

This course is a one day seminar within the AS111 five day course. It includes a lecture by guest instructor Marc Johnson.

The course will be taught by pioneering leaders of the solar energy industry. Eddie Haynes, Master Electrician & NABCEP Certified PV Installer and Brandon Mathis, Principal of Solar Community\Austin and NABCEP Certified PV Installer will lead the class.

Eddie and Brandon will be joined by PV Powered’s Marc Johnson for an in depth study of inverters and the latest developments in grid-tie inverter technology. Mr. Johnson has been in the solar power industry since 2001 developing extensive experience in all aspects of solar system design and optimization. Marc holds an engineering degree from New Mexico State University where he was a student of John Wiles in 1989.

“The emphasis will be two-part,” says Mr. Haynes. “Advanced students need to get beyond the ‘black box’ view of inverters. They need to know in details how inverters work. And they need to know how to analyze system performance based on information they can get from the inverter. This will be an opportunity to learn system performance from the people who design the equipment.”

The class includes in-depth electrical and mechanical design calculations, system performance testing and troubleshooting and project document preparation. Students registering for the class should have good electrical and mechanical skills and be familiar with the National Electrical Code.

The 40 hr., five day class, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. each day, will be held at the ONTILITY headquarters and newly constructed training facility conveniently located 15 minutes from George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston. Tuition for the training is $1,395.
