Product Description

(S104)*

This course provides students with basic knowledge of solar thermal system design, installation, troubleshooting and operation procedures for residential and commercial water and pool heating. The course is designed for all learners and includes classroom instruction, component demonstration, and a hands-on installations lab.

The course follows the Institute for Sustainable Power Quality® (ISPQ) standards and the NABCEP® Solar Thermal Task Analysis (TA). It focuses on real-world, site-specific knowledge. Hands-on training covers site surveys; mechanical, plumbing and electrical design, safety and construction issues; tool and test equipment use; best-practice construction skills; national code and local inspection issues.

Certification Path

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be eligible to take the NABCEP® Entry Level PV Exam. ONTILITY is an approved provider of the exam and offers the test every Friday night, after our Solar PV S104 course.

Upon successful completion of this course, completion and documentation of two permitted PV system installs, and additional home study, students may be eligible to take the NABCEP® Certified Thermal Installer Exam.
